Basic Function

HollyFrontier Corporation is seeking a Commercial Analyst to be based at our headquarters in Dallas, TX.  This role is responsible for conducting financial analysis, preparing market analyses, and reporting assignments for an assigned department. 


This position is not eligible for international relocation assistance. 


Job Duties

  • Works closely across commercial, capital and financial organization to identify areas of opportunity for market analysis and pricing studies
  • Builds and maintains crude basin and product market supply/demand models
  • Assists in preparation of market studies based on supply/demand analysis to help determine pricing expectations  
  • Monitors industry dynamics and trends, and helps anticipate how these trends will impact pricing outlook
  • Prepares and presents macro news flow regularly to commercial crude and marketing departments
  • Assists others in the department as needed with financial analyses, reports, and systems
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

A minimum of three (3) years related experience required.


Preferred Experience:

Previous energy or commodity market experience.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business analytics, economics, engineering, accounting, or finance.

Required Skills

Basic understanding of energy or commodity markets. Detail oriented with strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, Excel and PowerPoint in particular. Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical calculations. Self-starter with the ability to think critically and communicate effectively.

Work Conditions

Office based with travel required up to 10% by land and air with occasional visits into a refinery environment. Subject to varying road and weather conditions.
